Rita Nwokeji Receives EPRA 2018 Outstanding Humanitarian Overseas Service Award

Mrs Rita Nwokeji Received EPRA, Leadership and Entrepreneurial Award 2018 (Outstanding Humanitarian Overseas Service Award) presented by Chief Mrs Patricia Ekechi The Former Mayor London Borough of Enfield.

Mrs Rita Nwokeji was born in Kano State, Northern part of Nigeria in the mid-1960s. She attended St Louis Primary School from where she moved to Immaculate Heart, Borokiri, Porthacourt for her Secondary School Education. The young Rita who seriously yearns for advanced studies proceeded to Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education where she obtained National Certificate In Education (NCE) and was thoroughly groomed as a professional. Mrs Rita took a step further in terms of acquiring tertiary education as she enrolled for a degree programme in Education at the prestigious University of Ife (now known as Obafemi Awolowo University).

Following her graduation, the recipient taught for 2 years at Ihioma Girls Secondary School, Orlu, Imo State prior to joining her husband in United Kingdom. Upon arrival in UK, Mrs Rita veered into the medical
profession as she studied Nursing in Middlesex University.


Mrs Rita Nwokeji has practiced her calling as a professional nurse the NHS for over 22 years, engaging herself in various community projects. The passion she has for humanity has severally taken her on medical mission
with her siblings to Nigeria where they offered free medical treatment to the people in her village.
In the United Kingdom, she has been involved with the Rotary Club of Hendon in raising funds in support of various humanitarian causes.
Particularly, she takes delight in supporting Hospitals with funds on a regular basis. In addition, she renders assistance to the disabled and organise stroke awareness day where attendees are educated about the

Symptoms associated with stroke as well as preventive measures. She has completed all arrangement for the setting up a memory cafe for people in the community suffering with dementia. Beyond the shores of Nigeria and Britain, the awardees’ recipient had as recent as January 2018 travelled to India to offer assistance in the area of immunization of Indian children against Polio. All expenses for the trip were born by Mrs Nwokeji. Within a space of 30 years as a trainee and a practitioner, the recipient has affected innumerable lives, giving a lease of life to the afflicted and extending a ray of hope to the seemingly hopeless.

There is no doubt that such a personality as the recipient are rare in the society where selfless services are scanty and considered as resource-wasting.
