Royal Wedding 2018 Live Updates: Celebrities arrives at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s big day

Princess Eugenie showed off her scars as she married Jack Brooksbank in the second royal wedding of the year in Windsor today.

The low back feature on the dress – designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, who founded the British based label Peter Pilotto – was at the specific request of the bride who had surgery aged 12 to correct scoliosis.

As she walked down the aisle, the newest member of the Royal family mouthed to his bride that she looked ‘perfect’.

After a traditional ceremony, during which the maid of honour Princess Beatrice delivered a reading from The Great Gatsby, the couple kissed on the steps to cheers from well-wishers.

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, watched on having arrived with the Queen amid speculation he might not attend.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to Windsor Castle – the venue for their royal wedding in May.

A star-studded gallery, which included Demi Moore, Kate Moss, Robbie Williams and Naomi Campbell, were treated to a reading from Princess Beatrice of York from The Great Gatsby.

The guests will now attend an afternoon reception before the celebrations continue into the evening.

Some royal superfans were left a little underwhelmed by the post-wedding celebrations, after waiting more than three hours to see the carriage procession through the town.

Eugenie, 28, younger daughter of the queen’s third child Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, exchanged vows with Mr Brooksbank, a 32-year-old drinks executive, at Windsor Castle.

The ninth-in-line to the throne is following in the footsteps of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who also chose the venue for their wedding in May.

The ceremony took place at the castle’s 15th Century St George’s Chapel with the Dean of Windsor David Conner officiating.

“It was amazing to see the carriage,” Hannah White, 23, from Oxford, said. “But we were wondering if there was going to be a bit more than that.”
Her mother Caroline Lewis, 50, from Cardiff, said: “I was expecting to see the other royals.

“I did think they might have followed her around the block or something, that would have been nice as I was so excited about it.”

Jack Brooksbank and Princess Eugenie of York waved to crowds lining the streets as they rode in the Scottish State Coach during their carriage procession following their wedding ceremony.
The carriage procession will be made in the Scottish State Coach, a carriage with a roof rather than opened topped, as rain and strong winds were forecast for the wedding day, Buckingham Palace has said.
It is being pulled by four Windsor Grey horses – Plymouth, Milford Haven, Tyrone and Storm – the same horses that pulled the carriage the Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelled in for their wedding day carriage procession.

Windsor Grey horses play an important role in the ceremonial life of the royal family and the nation, and have been drawing the carriages of successive monarchs and members of the monarchy since Queen Victoria’s reign

Amy Gardener, 22, from Luton, said she was delighted to see the carriage procession from Windsor High Street.

She said: “We started getting a bit sad that we weren’t going to see anyone else but now we’ve seen her we’re delighted.

“I got a photo of both of them looking at the camera, so I’m so happy.”

Miss Gardener was in the crowds for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Speaking about why she supports the royal family, she said: “It’s the tradition, the events, I love what they do for the country, all their outfits – I just love them.”
